About Cenotes

 Cenote is a term that is only used in Mexico and comes from the Mayan word "dzonot" which means "abyss." For the Mayan culture, cenotes were considered sources of life; in addition to providing vital liquid, they were an entrance to another world and a center of communion with the gods.
